Marilyn Mock Says ‘People Need to Help Each Other’
By JONANN BRADY
Tracy Pottsboro lost her job and then her home when she couldn’t make mortgage payments. On Saturday, she watched as her home was auctioned off in Dallas.
“The final farewell to my house,” Pottsboro said. “It means so much to all of us. It’s not just a house.”
Auctions on foreclosed houses are an opportunity for some and agony for those who’ve lost their homes.
From July through September of this year, more than 2,700 Americans lost their homes to foreclosure every day, according to The ociated Press. In Texas, almost 9,200 homes entered the foreclosure process in September.
On Saturday, Pottsboro took her seat among the crowd, waiting for house No. 73 to be called.
Marilyn Mock, a small-business owner from Rockwall, Texas, had accompanied her son, who was interested in buying a house, to the auction that day.
Mock was sitting near Pottsboro and noticed that she was upset.
“She was crying, and I asked her what is she upset about, and you know, she lost her house,” Mock said.
When the No. 73 came up and the auction began, Mock said she asked Pottsboro, “Is it worth it?”
“She said yes. & I just kept taking her word,” Mock said.
Mock ended up winning the auction, with a bid of about $30,000. And just like that, Pottsboro’s sad goodbye turned into welcome home.
Mock told “Good Morning America” that she will take out a bank loan to finance about half the cost and will let Pottsboro and her family live in the house and make payments to her instead of the bank. She said she will pay for about half the house upfront.
Mock was straightforward about her motive. “People need to help each other, and that’s all there is to it,” she said.
Pottsboro was moved to tears by Mock’s random act of generosity. “Nobody’s done anything like that for me before, and I hope that I can repay the favor,” she said.
Mock said her son and husband have come to expect these “crazy” things.
“When I came home and I said, ‘Well, honey, guess what?’ He just goes, “OK, whatever.’ He’s used to it,” Mock told “GMA.”
“I do a lot of things, you know, loan money out and give to somebody — you see somebody in need, you give them money,” she said. “Or you see somebody in the grocery store, they don’t have enough money to pay for it, I’m usually the one behind saying here, here’s $20 or something.”

Marilyn Mock for President, or Foreclosure Angel
I defy anyone to watch the this video and not cry.
Marilyn Mock went to a foreclosure auction. She met Tracy, a woman whose house was being auctioned. Tracy was there to say goodbye. Tracys house wasnt a palace, but she loved it. She most likely was caught in the same net as hundreds of thousands of other homeowners whose dream of homeownership turned into a nightmare.
Ms. Mock bought Tracys house. She gave it back to her.
There are no words for this kind of generosity. Lets face it: Id rather watch something like this than Extreme Home Makeover. One more family has a home, and one more person has gone out of her way to help a complete stranger. This reminds me of my Bible college past. Sometimes, one entertains angels unaware.
Thank you, Ms. Mock. Tracy, I hope this is a new start.
This is a nice story with a happy ending. No matter who you think is at fault in this mortgage meltdown, there are individual stories out there that should be heard. I’m pretty confidant the woman in the story who lost her home wasn’t a super slick financier playing the market. I suspect she is a regular wage earner who got into trouble by taking out a 2nd mortgage to feed her family. What a contrast with the 100’s of millions the Wall Street fat cats stole. Could have bought a lot of these $50K houses…..
Foreclosure auction makes house ownership possible for some
By MONIKA DIAZ / WFAA-TV
DALLAS - More than 500 bargain hunters hit the Dallas Convention Center Saturday to bid on the American Dream that has ended up in foreclosure.
The misfortune of others is now an opportunity for those trying to buy into the housing market.
In this tough housing market, more first-time home buyers are attending these auctions, to see if they can get their dream home for less.
Today, two families gave the auction a shot and walked out of the convention center saving thousands of dollars.

Amazing! God bless …
Amazing! God bless her
You got a personal …
You got a personal grudge against the creator and that’s between you and the creator; I don’t give a what happens to you. The creator invented death so that man CANNOT ignored her.
Last night God, …
Last night God, working through a man, walked into a LA gym, turned off the lights, and opened fire killing 5 women before blowing his own head off in the process. Why you worship this monstrosity is beyond me.
Dwindle, you have …
Dwindle, you have blasphemed The Living God of the Most high. Ballzy. Stupid, but ballzy.
If you would’ve said “Religeon didn’t lift a finger” that would’ve made sense. What agnostics/athiests don’t understand is that the Living God of The Most high works THROUGH “ordinary people”. This is why they say “the lord works in mysterious ways.” The creator has blessed me, through the hands of Racist Skin heads, so speak for yourself.
Dwindle, God is watching us all through our own eyes.
I despise people …
I despise people like you. God didn’t lift a finger - an ordinary person did.
Awesome; powerful. …
Awesome; powerful. Gods is good.
…And people have …
…And people have the nerve to say that there is no God. No matter what “religeon” you have, this is a beautiful story. Congradulations for both parties.
Iam going to tell …
Iam going to tell you going through the foreclosure process is terrible. I lost my job and have not been able to get on my feet. the house is now in foreclosure. It horrible The lawyers are truly blood suckers they told ht judge that the house was not owner occupied but judge still gave six months been turned down for a mod and now have a sell date of the house 8/31 with minor children and two dogs it horriblbe. Unless u have gone through words cannot explain the hurt.

well bless her heart.
this video will be …
this video will be lucky to hit 10,000 views. sad but true. no one wants to see this kinds of , they would rather watch two girls all over themselves….fuck society.
but good video.
Then that should …
Then that should deter them from buying a house. They can buy a bungalow, a garden house, a town house, etc and be able to pay for it.
Most ordinary folk …
Most ordinary folk can’t pay cash for a house so they borrow in the hopes that over their lifetime they will be able to pay it off…and then illness, job loss, or other tragedy befalls…not an unlikely scenario in a 30 year mortgage lifetime. It is very meanspirited to patronise the suffering of others. But then the world has a great way of giving us back what we put out there!. This lady will reap her kindness 10 fold…or perhaps one of her children, or grandchildren will down the line.
What a fantastic …
What a fantastic thing to do!! You are an inspiration. I can’t believe this story attracted cynical begrudgers….shame the world isn’t made up of generous souls with no attachment to the outcome of their kindness. You are a light shining…I hope more see it.
Let this be a …
Let this be a lesson to all. Don’t buy something unless you can afford it.
I never needed …
I never needed expensive diamonds fancy cars or golden spoons if I could give back like that it would be all worth it..
shit i better start …
i better start crying on the streets hoping people will pay for my
Great Woman.
Great Woman.
May God bless and …
May God bless and replenish ur pocket, amen.
No . Perhaps I …
No . Perhaps I should stand on the street crying and they would pay for my house.
these dumb pieces …
these dumb pieces of think they are entitled to something they can’t pay for
if more people were …
if more people were like that, this world may have a chance, as for lobbyists and government officials, big bankers, wallstreet jag offs are all not going to a pleasant place when they pass away,
Wow….I really …
Wow….I really admire that woman….
yeah that’s right, people should help each other….
congratulations to this woman
This is what I …
This is what I admire about people who are truly wealthy !!!! They NEVER boast nor seek to draw attention to themselves. She paid premium for a house that wasnt her’s and she just gave it away and it doesnt even look like anything happened to her pocket. Not only that she is a natural helper !!! It shows all over her. People like this are rare. I never would’ve thought they exist.
